The Virtual Monitor Switch control panel allows you to use your Macintosh Quadra without a monitor attached. (For example, if you are using your computer as a file server, you may not want to attach a monitor.) When the Virtual Monitor Switch is turned on, the computer behaves as if a 13" monitor were attached to it.
To install the Virtual Monitor Switch, drag the Virtual Monitor Switch icon to the icon of your System Folder. (Don't open the System Folder.) When the folder becomes highlighted, release the mouse button. Click OK in the dialog box to install the Virtual Monitor Switch control panel.
To change the Virtual Monitor setting, choose Control Panels from the Apple menu. Double-click the Virtual Monitor Switch icon to open the control panel. Click On if you want to use the computer without a monitor; click Off if you will be using the computer with a monitor.
IMPORTANT: If you decide to attach a monitor to your Macintosh Quadra, turn the Virtual Monitor Switch off after you attach the monitor.
After you have changed the setting, choose Shut Down from the Special menu. Your changes will take effect when you restart the computer.
